"A Knife in the Water" constitutes a perfect example of a masterful drama direction in which three main protagonists interact with each other among the landscapes of the Masurian Lakeland. The first feature-length film by Roman Polański is abundant with universal contents, and because of this "A Knife in the Water" is still a relevant and up-to-date work of art. The musical accompaniment by Krzysztof Komeda, the eminent composer and jazz pianist, completes the perfect setting for the black/white frames, whereas the opulence of jazz standards as well as their expressiveness creates an unforgettable effect on the recipient.
